The way all the items stand relatively to each other, the big deck of cards, the chair in the center, the kitchen cabinets that frame it; it's at once purposeful and powerful. With the off-center glass of water and shuffled cards on each side as the sole, most expressive signs of human habitation in the picture. I also like the tonality, light, yet effective! I just wish I could have been playing a game of Skip-bo on a lovely Spring day, somewhere in Canada, that day. I love the quiet, thoughtful composition.
